Lance A. Parton, MD, FAAP, is Associate Chief of the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital and Professor of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Anesthesiology at New York Medical College, the Children's Hospital's academic affiliate. His translational research investigates the genetic foundations of conditions affecting preterm infants, particularly bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Under his direction, his laboratory is also interested in the in genetic foundations of conditions that may make mothers susceptible to delivering prematurely. Specifically, his laboratory studies the role of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the development of preterm prolonged rupture of membranes (PPROM), intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), preeclampsia, and cervical shortening. Clinical areas of investigation include pulmonary conditions, and the variety of non-invasive and invasive modes of ventilation utilized to treat these conditions, including high-frequency jet ventilation, high frequency oscillatory ventilation and the VDR-4.

Dr. Parton is active in teaching neonatal fellows, pediatric residents, medical students, undergraduates, and high school students and serves in a variety of administrative roles across Maria Fareri Children's Hospital and New York Medical College, including the Faculty Senate, Professionalism and Integrity Committee, Second Year Advancement Committee; Credentials Committee, Critical Care Committee, Medical Operations Committee, and Pediatric Residency and Neonatal Fellowship Educational Committees. Dr. Parton is Director of the Pulmonary Medicine Section and Past President of New York Chapter 3 of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
