Certification: Pediatric Surgery,
Dr. Gustavo Stringel earned his medical degree from the National University of Mexico in Mexico City. He interned at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Canada and did his surgical training at the Gallie Program at the University of Toronto. He completed a fellowship in pediatric surgery at the Hospital of Sick Children in Toronto.

Dr. Stringel was Staff Surgeon at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa, Canada, and Assistant Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa. He came to the United States in 1985 as an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School and Attending Surgeon at the Children's Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital, in Dallas, Texas. He is currently a tenured Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at New York Medical College, Attending Surgeon at Westchester Medical Center.

Dr. Stringel is board certified in Surgery, Pediatric Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He is certified in Medical Management by the American College of Physician Executives and received his MBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dr. Stringel has presented and published extensively in the areas of laparoscopy and thoracoscopy in children. He is past president of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and currently serves on the editorial board of its journal. He received the Excel Award in 2014 for excellence in surgical education, and is the author and co-author of more than 100 publications in peer reviewed journals and of many textbook chapters.
