Siblings
The Social Work Department along with the Child Life and Expressive Arts Therapy Program provides a program for Siblings (Ages 5 and up) three times a year. This is a therapeutic program that addresses the needs and feelings of siblings in a fun, safe environment. Your child/children will be invited by your Social Worker and/or look out for a flyer at the Infusion Center for this event.

GiantKids
GiantKids is an organization started by one of our patient’s family. The mission is to recognize the heroics of children battling life-threatening diseases together with their siblings and caregivers through an award program; provide activities and events for GiantKids and the their siblings designed to enrich their lives during and following medical treatments; and to raise money for research programs focused on curing pediatric cancer and related blood diseases. The organization sponsors and organizes an annual free family fun day at Camp Kiwi in Mahopac, NY, the last Saturday of July. Check with your Social Worker for the exact date.

Team IMPACT’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team. Courageous kids are matched with local college athletic teams. Team IMPACT children are drafted onto the team and become an official member of the team from Draft Day through to Graduation. The child joins the athletic team and the student-athletes join the child’s support team. The child gains great strength, camaraderie and support, and the student athletes are taught lessons about courage and resilience.
